About Aura

Hi, I’m Connie.

I created Aura because I couldn’t find clear, trustworthy answers when I needed them most.

My story

Sleep went first. I’d wake at 3 a.m. and never get back to sleep. Then my energy went, then the weight crept on, then my mood slipped. I’d been feeling foggy and not like myself for a while when I was in a serious accident on the interstate with my kids in the car. That day made it impossible to ignore.

Nothing that used to work for me worked anymore. I tried supplement after supplement. My doctor was wonderful, but my insurance wouldn’t cover the hormone therapy she suggested, so I had to find what I could do on my own. At Christmas, I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant with my kids.

So I started researching, and found conflicting answers everywhere. For any question, I could find the answer I wanted to hear. Much of it wasn’t fact, and many of the studies I found were done on men. I stopped looking for answers I liked and started looking for evidence.

With a trainer, I built a plan for strength and energy in midlife. Saunas were part of it. The deeper I dug, though, the more I saw how much of the wellness and sauna marketing went further than the research supports.

That’s when Aura changed. It started as something I wanted to sell, and became something I wanted to build: a place that tells you what the evidence actually says, including when the answer is “we don’t know yet.”

Today I sleep seven hours a night, and I can keep up with my teenagers and my grandbaby. I built Aura so you don’t have to sort through the noise alone.

What helped me

Looking back, a few things made the biggest difference for me: a strength and wellness plan built with a trainer, consistent sleep, cutting out caffeine and most alcohol, and meditation. I’m not telling you what to do. Every woman’s body and history are different, and your doctor knows yours.
